Childhood Dreams and Memories

I explore place, memory and childhood through collage and animation that developed out of a personal exploration into my own childhood.

In a series of short animations filmed on my phone to imitate a home-made recording, hand held and shaky, reminiscent of bygone technologies they reflect my own recurring childhood dreams and nightmares, my obsession with fantasy and the garden in my childhood home. They also show how memory can be vivid, yet paradoxically vague, and how our subconscious can manifest them in our dreams, too. Vice versa, I remember my dreams always been very realistic and bizarre, and they often felt like they actually happened, at times they have more clarity that actual events.
