BERBER

The starting point for the collection began with how mindfulness can be transferred into fashion including; healing crystals, chakras and how clothing can engage the senses. This lead to research into the Majorelle Gardens in Marrakesh which has inspired colour and fabric manipulation. Further research was conducted into traditional Berber culture has inspired silhouette, fabrics and design details. The collection is for Holly Fulton, Spring Summer 2020. Outfit one is comprised of a jacket with a square neckline, dropped gathered sleeve head and shaped cuff with a layered A-line skirt. It is made from French crepe, guipure lace and a contrast satin lining. The jacket is decorated around the neckline with hand embroidery in a staggered, ombre pattern. The guipure lace skirt overlay has a scallop hem which has been attached by hand and beaded with semi precious crystals. Outfit two is an asymmetrical cotton chambray dress with intricate straps and flowing, main body with high leg slits on either side. Silk organza frills drape over the arms and the dress is held up with laser cut silk crepe straps which have been beaded into using semi precious crystals.
